Kurt Busch, Penske Driver Apologize For The Actions To The ESPN Reporter
Kurt Busch, Penske Racing has publicly apologized to ESPN reporter Dr. Jerry Punch on the actions Busch after he fell from the Sunday race at Homestead-Miami Speedway
A video on YouTube showing Busch, out of air, waiting to be interviewed by Punch, gangs on ESPN cameramen and staff close to him. He then asked Punch, why they could not record the interview and Punch said he wanted to live.
Busch, who is known to get frustrated to the point of a curse on his car radio and berating his crew, said: "I'd like to make it live, too, [expletive], 10 minutes ago.
Punch, then told his producers "never mind" to do the interview and Busch went into his cart juror.
"Unfortunately, our season ending race at Homestead results on Sunday was not what we had hoped as a team," Busch said in a statement. "My frustration with the transmission loss at the start of my race, I let my emotions hit me.
I regret having done that and apologize to the sponsors of Penske Racing in NASCAR, fans, media and, especially, Dr. Jerry Punch. "
Penske Racing has also apologized.
"Penske Racing to extend an apology, Dr. Jerry Punch, our media partners and sponsors, and fans of Kurt Busch, inappropriate actions in Homestead Sunday," Penske said declaration. "These actions do not represent the Penske Racing and are contrary to corporate standards of behavior, mutual respect and professionalism. This issue is currently under internal review."
A spokesman declined to comment on ESPN and NASCAR Busch language called "disappointing."
Obviously, Kurt was frustrated by what happened to his car at the start of the race, however, his choice of language at a time was disappointing, "NASCAR said in a statement.
